Field Day on Button Mushroom Cultivation in Manipur at ICAR-Research Complex for North Eastern Hill Region, Manipur

        ICAR-Research Complex for North Eastern Hill Region, Manipur organized a field day on Technology Demonstration on Button Mushroom Cultivation on 14.02.2025 with main aim to promote, popularise, cultivation techniques of the button mushroom and development mushroom entrepreneurs in the state. In Manipur, oyster mushroom is the most popular and widely cultivated mushroom whereas button mushroom merely cultivation in Manipur. To step up production and popularise the button mushroom, this centre has initiated the substrate/compost preparation and 60 bags prepared of each bag weight 10kg were cultivated button mushroom. At the outset, Dr. Akoijam Ratankumar Singh, Sr. Scientist & PI AICRP on Mushroom highlighted that potential of cultivation and production of button mushroom in the state. In programme, held a deliberate discussion on compost preparation using paddy straw by using short method and enlisted materials required of composting. The main event of the programme that the process of harvesting of button mushroom by participants was demonstrated inside the Mushroom House. The Head, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre also expressed her gratitude to the participants for showing keen interest in this programme and assured continued support and guidance from the centre agriculture and allied sectors. This event was attended by 30 potential youth from Senapati, Ukhrul, Imphal West, Imphal East and Thoubal districts of Manipur and programme is organised under AICRP on Mushroom, ICAR-DMR, Solan HP.
